Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame Gala

The 2017 Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame 27th Anniversary Gala was held recently, and honorees included The View and Univision’s Maria Elena Salinas.

The hosts were actress Susan Lucci, known for the classic soap opera All My Children, and Maurice DuBois, an Anchor from WCBS-TV here in New York City.

Salinas, the co-anchor of Noticiero Univision and the co-host of the news magazine program Aquí y Ahora (Here and Now) on Univision, received with the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Salinas has been working for more than three decades in the U.S. and in 18 Latin American countries.She has interviewed Latin American heads of state, rebel leaders, dictators, and every United States president since Jimmy Carter.

The View, the groundbreaking daytime show that has been on ABC since 1997 and was created by Barbara Walters, was honored. The show  was represented by hosts Joy Behar, Meghan McCain, Star Jones, Michelle Collins, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines.

Other honorees include: William J. Abbott – President & CEO, Crown Media Family Networks; Kevin Beggs – Chairman, Lionsgate Television Group; Gary Bettman – Commissioner, National Hockey League; Peter Dunn – President, CBS Television Stations; Robert Greenblatt – Chairman, NBC Entertainment; Rob Kennedy & Susan Swain – Presidents & Co-CEOs, C-SPAN; John Landgraf – Chief Executive Officer, FX Networks and FX Productions; John Waller III – Chairman & Founder, Waller Capital; and Cyma Zarghami – President, Nickelodeon Group

The 2017 Chairman’s Award went to Senator Gordon Smith, the President & CEO of the National Assn. of Broadcasters
