The Yankees lost a nailbiter Friday night, 5-4, to the Red Sox in the first game of the ALDS.

The Yankees can take a lot of positives from the loss as they head into Game 2 Saturday night. They nearly stole a win in a game started by Boston’s ace Chris Sale and their bullpen shut out the Red Sox for the final five innings after starter J.A. Happ left the game.

ALDS Game 1: Kimbrel Closes Door On Yankee Comeback

The Yankees nearly made up a five-run deficit on Friday night at Fenway Park, but Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel closed them out in a 5-4 Boston victory.

It didn’t take long for the Red Sox to get to Yankees starter J.A. Happ, who pitched well against Boston in the regular season.

Boone On Yankees Ahead Of Boston Battle: “We feel like we’re a really good club right now”

Aaron Boone authored one of the biggest moments in the long history of their rivalry with the Boston Red Sox when he hit the game-winning walk-off home run in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series in 2003.

Boone, now the Yankees Manager, is set to lead his team into battle against a 108-win Red Sox team in the Division Series, starting Friday night at Fenway Park.

Yankees, Led By Early Ruling From Judge, Get By A’s

The Yankees beat the Oakland A’s, 7-2, on Wednesday night in the American League Wild Card Game at Yankee Stadium, led by home runs from Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.

This sets up a matchup between the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox in the American League Division Series.

Yankees’ Stanton On Wild Card Game: “We’ve got work to do”

Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton will be playing in his first-ever postseason game on Wednesday night when the Yankees take on the Oakland A’s at Yankee Stadium in the American League Wild Card Game.

Stanton, who split time between the outfield and designated hitter, hit .266 with 38 home runs and 100 RBI in his first year in pinstripes.

Severino Gets Another Chance In Wild Card Game

On Tuesday morning, Yankees Manager Aaron Boone named Luis Severino the starter for the American League Wild Card Game against the Oakland A’s on Wednesday night.

Severino also started last year’s Wild Card game against the Minnesota Twins and was knocked out in the first inning of an eventual Yankees win.
