Deron Williams was back in Brooklyn this week, and it’s starting to feel more like home.
Make that, a possible home … and hoops fans around here will take it at this point. Since the Dwight Howard deal crapped out at the deadline, the chances of Williams coming to Brooklyn with the Nets have seemed slim.
Why would he stay with the Nets? Case in point … he can make BANK in Brooklyn … as he’s finding out with his sponsorships:
Other reasons future Brooklyn Nets fans can continue to hold onto some hope for #8:
-GM Billy King and coach Avery Johnson have treated the star point guard like an assistant GM in personnel decisions
-Williams is convinced the Barclays Centers will be the best arena in the NBA
-The team has shown flashes when healthy (win over the world champs in Dallas … road winning streak when Brook Lopez returned for a tick)
…There’s no substitute for winning, and the grass always looks sparkly green on Mark Cuban’s side of the fence. But for now, MetroPCS and other high-profile sponsorships are helping D-Will see plenty of green here in the #1 market.
