The Nets ended their road trip in style, with a 113-95 blowout of the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night. They went 5-3 on the eight-game “Circus Road Trip” and return home Thursday for a potential playoff preview with the Chicago Bulls.
The “Circus Road Trip” began with a win in Detroit on March 18th. The Nets started their move west with an impressive win in Dallas on March 20th, in which Brook Lopez had 38 points and Deron Williams had 31 points in his return to his hometown.
On March 23rd, the Nets lost a tough one to the Los Angeles Clippers, as Chris Paul took over down the stretch. The Nets responded with a win in a tight one in Phoenix on Sunday, March 24th. Three days later, the Nets blew out the Portland Trail Blazers before losing back-to-back games in Denver and Utah.
This road trip also clinched the Nets franchise their first winning road record, as they improved to 21-17 on the road so far.
50 wins is still possible for the Nets, as they have games with Washington, Detroit, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Toronto, and what’s left of the Boston Celtics. If they can beat Chicago or Indiana on April 12th, that would be enough for 50 wins.
On Wednesday night, Joe Johnson was out of the lineup for the fifth straight game. Gerald Wallace was also out of the starting lineup, so MarShon Brooks and Keith Bogans took their places.
The Nets shot 73 percent in the first half, completing 27 of 37 baskets. Brooklyn led 28-20 after the first quarter, and took the game over in the secod quarter.
C.J. Watson hit a three-pointer to make it 52-32 Nets with 4:07 left in the first half. Soon after, Deron Williams had a dunk and a three to give the Nets a 25-point lead. D-Will closed the first half with another three, and was fouled taking on a three-point attempt with 24 seconds left, so he hit three free throws to make it 66-36, which was the halftime score.
MarShon Brooks led the Nets with 27 points and shot a stellar 12-for-16 from the field with 7 assists and 4 rebounds. D-Will had 24 points on 8-for-14 from the field and 8 assists. Brook Lopez had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Reggie Evans had his usual 18 rebounds and 8 points.
