The Red Bulls signed a pair of midfielders, Vincent Bezecourt and Dilly Duka, ahead of Saturday night’s game against Orlando City SC.
Bezecourt joins the first team from New York Red Bulls II, the club’s USL affiliate.
“Vince has impressed us in games and in training over the last 18 months,” said Red Bulls Sporting Director Denis Hamlett. “We are pleased to add him to our MLS roster and proud that another player has moved through the developmental system to the first team.”
Bezecourt, a native of Aire-sur-l’Adour, France, signed with Red Bulls II at the beginning of 2016 after two years of college soccer at St. Francis Brooklyn.
“Vince has earned this opportunity with his play in USL and his attitude towards working hard every day to improve his game,” said Red Bulls Head Coach Jesse Marsch. “He shows qualities that we think will translate to the MLS level. This is a testament to Vince and to our organizations’ player development system.”
In 19 appearances this season, Bezecourt has contributed six goals and leads the league with eight assists and 45 chances created. In 2016, he recorded six goals and two assists in 18 regular season appearances, as well as a goal and four assists during the playoffs en route to winning the USL Championship with NYRB II.
“It was a nice surprise, I’m very happy to be here,” said Bezecourt. “When you are a USL player, you always look up at the big guys from the first team and you want to play with them, to train with them. I’m grateful for the opportunity and very thankful to all of the coaches from USL, the players and thankful for the trust from the coaching staff too.”
Bezecourt was loaned to the first team for the U.S. Open Cup match against the New England Revolution in July, but did not appear.
Duka is a native of Montville, N.J., and joins the Red Bulls after most recently playing with Columbus Crew SC.
“Dilly is a veteran player, and our staff is very familiar with him,” said Hamlett. “We’ve been able to have him in training for a few weeks and we’ve liked what he has shown. He brings attacking quality and experience to our roster, and we expect him to contribute moving forward.”
Duka was originally drafted by Columbus eighth overall in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft after two years at Rutgers University. He played two seasons with Columbus before moving to Chicago, then Montreal, and re-signing with Columbus in 2016.
“I’d like to thank the organization for the opportunity,” said Duka. “I’m here to give 100 percent every day, and to help contribute in any way I can. The Red Bulls organization is first class and I see every day that every player is hungry for team success.”
In eight MLS seasons Duka has made 138 league appearances, including 95 starts, scoring 12 goals and 14 assists. He also has three years of MLS playoff experience, two with Columbus and one with Montreal.
“We are pleased to add Dilly,” said Marsch. “We knew he was a talented, quality player and he has shown well in his time here. He’s also a veteran of the league that we think improves our roster both on game day and in training. We look forward to integrating him into our team.”
