David Villa celebrated the occasion of signing a one-year contract extension with New York City Football Club on Wednesday by throwing out the first pitch at that night’s Yankees game and visiting a school in the South Bronx.
Villa hosted a kids’ press conference and participating in small-sided soccer games at P.S. 49 Willis Avenue School in the South Bronx, a current ‘City in the Community’ site where the Club helped construct a mini-pitch as part of the MLS WORKS 20 for 20 initiative and currently supports free soccer programming.
Immediately following, David traveled up the Bronx to Yankee Stadium where he threw out the ceremonial first pitch in the Yankees pinstripes ahead of tonight’s game vs. division rival the Toronto Blue Jays.
